April 2, Wed. LEAVE LOS ANGELES. Depart Los Angeles, non-stop to Tokyo Narita, via Japan Airlines. En route, we will cross the International
Date Line, arriving in Tokyo the next day.
April 3, Thu. ARRIVE TOKYO/NARITA, CONTINUE TO OSAKA/ITAMI. Upon arrival and after entry procedures, we will board our domestic flight to Osaka/Itami.
April 4, Fri. OSAKA. This morning our sightseeing will take us to the impressive Osaka Castle; Osaka Mint Bureau and Mint Museum. Lunch will be included today. (B L)
April 5, Sat. OSAKA - HIROSHIMA. Today we travel to Hiroshima by train. On arrival. we will visit Peace Memorial Park and Museum. (B L)
April 6, Sun. HIROSHIMA – IWAKUNI – MIYAJIMA – HIROSHIMA. Morning tour to Iwakuni, site of Kintai-kyo Bridge, and then to Miyajima and Itsukushima Shrine,
a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Okonomiyaki lunch included today. (B L)
April 7, Mon. HIROSHIMA – KURASHIKI. We will travel by train to Kurashiki. On arrival, we will visit the preserved canal area that dates back to the
Edo Period (1603-1867). We will see a merchant’s home and Ivy Square, a former cotton mill factory. (B)
April 8, Tue. KURASHIKI – KYOTO. This morning we travel by train to Kyoto. On arrival, we will visit three of the most famous sights in Kyoto.
This evening, a special “shab shab” dinner is planned . (B D) April 9, Wed. KYOTO.
Full day at leisure. An optional tour to Nara will be available. (B)
April 10, Thu. KYOTO – KANAZAWA. This morning we travel by train to Kanazawa. On arrival in Kanazawa we visit Kenrokuen Garden and
Kanazawa Castle. (B) April 11, Fri. KANAZAWA – SHIRAKAWAGO – TAKAYAMA. This morning we leave by motorcoach for Takayama, a small town that has retained much of its traditional charms and is known as “little Kyoto.” En route, we will stop at Shirakawago, famous for their traditional “praying hands” farmhouses. April 12, Sat. TAKAYAMA. Sightseeing today includes Yatai Kaikan, to visit the huge, beautifully decorated floats used during the Takayama Festivals; Takayama Jinya and Kami Sannomachi, a historic area with some homes of merchants
turned to stores and sake breweries. (B)
April 13, Sun. TAKAYAMA - HAKONE. We travel by train to Hakone. On arrival we will tour the area, enjoying a boat ride on Lake Hakone and
weather permitting, a cable car ride with spectacular views. (B D) April 14, Mon. HAKONE – TOKYO. A short train ride and we will be in Tokyo. After arrival, visit Nijubashi or Double Bridge. We will also visit Asakusa Kannon Temple and the bustling Nakamise shopping arcade and drive through Ginza, before arriving
at our hotel. (B L)
April 15, Tue. TOKYO. All day free for independent activities. Farewell dinner in the evening. (B D)
April 16, Wed. TOKYO - NARITA – LOS ANGELES. From Tokyo’s Narita Airport, we will board our non-stop flight back to Los Angeles. We will re-cross the
Inter- national Date Line, arriving home the same day. (B)
