A Passage to India
Treat yourself to an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience. This short, but exciting tour is Yamato’s easy and comfortable way to discover India. We understand that many of our travelers are hesitant to embark on a journey to the other side of the planet. Long flights and a fear of the unknown are reasons enough for many to hold off. For many, the fear of being uncomfortable with experiencing poverty first-hand
is another powerful motivator for staying home. However, India is one of the world’s greatest nations. It has an incredibly rich culture and it is wondrous and beautiful. We’ve designed a once in a lifetime tour to India - a rich and rewarding experience which you will never forget. It’s quick, convenient and it is also deluxe. You may
only ever travel to India once but you will have experienced India like few others have done before. Join us on a small and intimate group tour to a life-changing destination: Incredible India!

Day 1: Sat, Apr 3rd - Today we will board an overnight flight to Europe.

Day 2: Sun, Apr 4th - This morning we will continue our route to India, arriving
in Delhi, India’s capital, this evening. You’ll be transferred to your hotel in the heart of the city and will be given plenty of time to rest from your travels. An informal welcome dinner will be held at the hotel. (D)

Day 3: Mon, Apr 5th -Today is a leisurely day – we want you to catch your breath from your travels. You’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast at your hotel followed by a brief city tour of Delhi. You’ll see the India Gate followed by India’s impressive government quarters – the nation’s “capitol hill”, so to speak. We’ll also visit two incredibly important sites in the city: The Ghandi Smriti (the home where Mahatma Ghandi lived during his last months and the garden where he was assassinated); and the Rajghat (the site where Ghandi’s remains were cremated). We’ll also visit Humayum’s Tomb, an ancient mausoleum which many feel was an inspiration to the architects of the Taj Mahal. Although today is a short day of sightseeing, we are sure that you will be impressed with the exotic sights and sounds of your first day in India! Tonight, you’ll enjoy dinner in the comfort of your hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Tue, Apr 6th -
Rise and Shine! This morning we will make a special guided visit to Chandi Chowk,
the oldest bazaar in Delhi. Our guides will take you on a short, but impressive walk through the old narrow streets. Bring your cameras! Your relations and friends
back home will hardly believe that you survived Chandi Chowk – but you will have done so with ease. You’ll also view the Delhi’s Red Fort – site of India’s annual Independence Day Presidential address. This afternoon, we’ll travel by train
(approx. 2 .5 hrs) to the city of Agra. From the comfort of your rail car (we’ll travel
in the Indian equivalent of Business Class) you’ll see the impressive hustle and bustle of India’s legendary railway system as we pass numerous stations en route to Agra. Soon, we’ll be in Agra – home of the Taj Mahal. Upon arrival, we’ll be transferred to our 5-star hotel – the Oberoi Amarvillas Hotel, one of the best hotels in the world. After a brief welcome ceremony, you’ll be escorted to your room – each Yamato guest will enjoy a fine view of the Taj Mahal from their hotel room!  This afternoon, you’ll take a tour of the hotel and you’ll have time to rest and enjoy the property before a fine welcome dinner. (B, L, D)

Day 5: Wed, Apr 7th - This morning we’ll visit Agra and it’s impressive fortress.
This afternoon you will be free to enjoy your impressive hotel. You can do as little
or as much as you like. You may wish to partake in Indian spa treatments or simply relax in the hotel’s impressive gardens with a good book. Enjoy the views of the
Taj Mahal or do a bit of shopping.  This evening, a short lecture on the Taj Mahal is planned. (B,L, D)

Day 6: Thur, Apr 8th - An exciting day begins with a special tour of the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is one of the seven man-made wonders of the world. It was built by
a grief stricken Mughal Emperor, as a tomb for his favorite wife who died during childbirth. Made entirely out of white marble, it took thousands of the world’s greatest craftsmen 22 years to build. It is simply a breathtaking monument. We’ll  visit the grounds of the Taj Mahal – where you’ll enjoy time to take photographs and marvel at the beauty of this legendary site.  You’ll also have an opportunity to visit the interior of the monument before returning to our hotel for lunch. This afternoon, we’ll return by rail to Delhi where a fine Farewell Dinner awaits.
(B, L, D)

Day 7: Fri, Apr 9th
Today, after a bit of free time for last minute errands, we’ll transfer to Delhi’s Indira Ghandi International Airport for our return flights home. We are sure that you will agree: This tour is a once in a lifetime experience! (B)

POSH Service to India!
A bit of history: A hundred years ago, India was a British possession – part of an enormous empire on which “the sun never set”. Those wealthy enough to travel to India, wanted to do so in the utmost comfort. Of course, at that time, this meant enduring as much as a month at sea – rounding all of Africa and crossing the breadth of the Indian Ocean. Air conditioning did not yet exist and it seemed that no matter what time of year one undertook travel to India - it would be hot.
The acronym POSH dates from those times. It stood for “Port Outward, Starboard Home”. In other words, if you were wealthy enough to pay for it, you could book
the more expensive cabins which were on the shadiest (and coolest) sides of the
ship in each direction to India (Port side of your ship outward to India and Starboard side home). Today of course, travel to India is a much simpler affair.  You board a flight and within hours, you’re on the other side of the world! This efficiency does come at a price, however.   Two long-haul flights in a row can leave even the most seasoned traveller daunted. Most travelers happily make do. The thrill of experiencing such a distant and exotic land as India makes up for these minor inconveniences in comfort. However, Yamato has it’s own modern-day version of POSH service to India. If this is a once-in-a-lifetime (you’ve promised yourself you would see India one day) tour for you, why not treat yourself to a stop on the way
to India? Cut your long flights in two, rest on the way.  Arrive in India more fresh, more rested - and get the most out of your time there. Our POSH service means that you’ll be greeted in Europe by our Yamato staff and you’ll transfer together to a convenient local hotel where comfortable accommodations, a warm meal and a
nice night’s sleep await.  The next day, we’ll fly to India together.
